| An
exciting new destination for the theatre day-tripper has arrived!
The Gayety Theatre in downtown Collingwood has finished renovations
and has opened its doors to the public once again . . . this
time for the performing arts! With a brand new, state of the
art sound and lighting system, this vaudeville-style Victorian
“jewel” is back in business to entertain and bring
attention to one of Ontario’s favourite year-round tourist
destinations! Located in downtown
Collingwood, (recently designated an official heritage district)
The Gayety Theatre sits at the corner of Hurontario and Ontario
Streets, where it’s been entertaining residents and
tourists since 1922. Six steps up from street level will have
you inside this elegant, 385 seat facility which boasts air-conditioning,
comfortable, graded seating with ample leg room, and an ambiance
that will leave even the most discriminating of consumers
completely charmed! In addition, the theatre’s original
Ontario St. exit (bricked-up in 1975, and at street level)
is in the process of being re-opened as an official exit to
the bus loading area as well as an ideal access, in and out,
for all wheelchairs and/or infirm patrons.

The highlight
of your tour, without a doubt, will be any one of the wonderful
shows that will continue to grace The Gayety Theatre stage –
twelve months of the year. Because we are located in one of
Ontario’s only year-round resort areas, we appropriately
offer “Four Season Entertainment”. Ranging from
contemporary comedy to a healthy dose of Vaudeville and Burlesque
fare, you’ll find our productions heavy in laughter, music,
and nostalgia, and featuring some of this country’s most
talented performers. |
